Massey Truck Engineering is one of the UK’s leading specialist HGV bodybuilders.
Established for over 40 years we supply specialist bodies to major end users across the builders’ merchant, construction and utility sectors.
The company was part of the Unilever empire in the 1970s, and subsequently owned by the Brooks family for nearly 30 years. MTE is now under the leadership of Ian Roberts who has over 20 years’ bodybuilder experience and particular expertise in truck-mounted cranes/handling equipment.
Unlike many competitors, MTE manufacture most of the steel body components in-house to ensure quality and keep control of our manufacturing processes.
The in-house MTE engineering team utilise SOLIDWORKS alongside the truck manufacturers’ own 3D Truck Configurators to design optimal engineering solutions, avoiding multiple ‘silos’ of information and unsynchronized revisions. Our own heavy-duty plasma machines enable precision cutting with Hypertherm technology ensuring the best quality plasma cut holes and finish.
We will customise floor type and construction materials, crane-specification and mounting position to meet your requirements and maximise payload. Our team of skilled electricians will fit state-of-the art camera, lighting, side-scan, on-board weighing and welfare systems to enable end users to comply with their legal and compliance obligations.
The skilled MTE team work with all the major crane manufacturers and we are a member of ALLMI, the organisation setting and leading the UK safety and compliance standards in the use of lorry cranes.
MTE recently invested over £0.5 million in a dedicated on-site IVA test lane to help avoid delays that are sometimes associated with EUWVTA. Alongside our in-house paint shop, boasting 3 drive-through bays with full spray-bake capabilities, this helps give our customers a seamless transition through manufacturing to a finished product all on one site.
MTE will also use traditional techniques and our paint facilities to produce vehicle livery that promotes the customer brand.
We have developed a loyal, blue-chip customer base over many years due to MTE’s proven high levels of engineering expertise, quality, reliability and innovative health and safety safeguards.
